Insect Tales Puppet Show by John Lechner

July 16 @ 4:00 pm 4:45 pm

Needham author and illustrator John Lechner will perform a free puppet show at the Needham Free Public Library on Tuesday July 16th at 4:00 PM. The show entitled “Insect Tales: Phinni and the Wild Patch” tells the story of four insect friends who search for a new home after their meadow is washed away by a storm. Designed for all ages, the show features music, colorful puppets, and fun facts about insects. As a writer and illustrator, Lechner has always been inspired by nature. The puppets in his show, including a hoverfly, long-legged fly, ground beetle, butterfly, and praying mantis, were all inspired by insects he has observed in his own garden. He hopes that this show will inspire audiences to appreciate insects more. “It’s true that some insects are pests,” he says, “but the vast majority are not only harmless, they’re essential to our ecosystem, and they’re endangered. So the more we can learn about them and provide a safe habitat for them to live in, the better for everyone.” For more information about this free show, visit the library website.
