Needham resident and journalist (and Observer contributor) Linda Polach was honored as a Commonwealth Heroine for her work in media literacy at a ceremony at the Statehouse on June 24.
Polach is the Massachusetts State Advocacy Lead for Media Literacy Now, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that K-12 students learn essential 21st century skills to critically evaluate and responsibly use media. She was nominated by state Rep. Josh Tarsky for her efforts to help young people become informed consumers and creators of media.
The annual Commonwealth Heroines awards are sponsored by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women for those who “use their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others in their communities.”
