Needham High senior Vann Hotchkiss won his third consecutive state Division 1 title in the 1-meter dive at last weekend’s MIAA boys’ swimming championships. NHS sophomore diver Andrew Call finished eleventh.
NHS junior Greta Hammer won the 2-mile race at MIAA Meet of Champions. Her time of 10:21.48 was nearly 12 seconds better than the runner-up.
Postseason play is underway in the MIAA Division 1 boys’ and girls’ basketball and hockey tournaments.
In a preliminary round game, the boys’ basketball team, the No. 36 seed, outscored No. 29 seed King Philip 19-2 in the fourth quarter to win, 56-37, at King Philip. The Rockets take on No. 4 seed Central Catholic on the road Thursday night at 7.
The girls’ basketball team, a No. 13 seed, begins Round of 32 play Thursday at home vs. No. 20 Andover. Game time is 6 p.m.
The Rockets’ hockey seasons are over already. The girls, seeded No. 26, lost to No. 7 seed Bishop Feehan last night in Attleboro. The score was 8-3. And the No. 21 seed boys lost to No. 12 seed Archbishop Williams, 6-1, Tuesday in Randolph.
