Busy days are ahead as several Needham High School teams compete in the spring MIAA Division 1 state tournaments.
- The boys’ tennis team, seeded eighth, defeated No. 25 Braintree, 5-0, on Tuesday. In the Round of 16, the Rockets will face No. 9 Shrewsbury at a date and place to be announced.
- The No. 9 girls’ team blanked No. 24 Central Catholic by the same score Wednesday afternoon. In the Round of 16, it’ll be Needham vs. No. 8 Winchester at a time and place to be announced.
- The boys’ volleyball team, the No. 3 seed, drew a bye in the preliminary round. Its Round of 32 opponent had not been determined last night, but the game will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Needham High School.
- The softball team, seeded No. 13, takes on No. 20 Whittier Regional Vocational Tech in the Round of 32 Saturday at 6 p.m. at DeFazio Field.
- A No. 13 seed, the boys’ lacrosse team will face No. 20 Arlington in the Round of 32. Game time is 4 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Field.
- At 2 p.m. Saturday, the No. 15 seed girls’ lacrosse team will meet its Round of 32 opponent, No. 18 Acton-Boxboro, also at Memorial Field.
