As the high school winter sports season winds down, here’s how NHS student-athletes fared in postseason competition over the past week.

  • For the second year in a row, junior Vann Hotchkiss is the state Division 1 champion in 1-meter diving. Overall, the boys swimming and diving team finished 13th in Sunday’s MIAA Division 1 state finals.
  • Daniel Jordan, Chris Chao, Josh Batsevitsky and Thomas Scalia finished third in the 4×200 meter relay at the state Division 1 Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Needham boys finished 23rd of 31 teams overall.
  • Ava Chiappinelli, Maddie Roach, Eva Adam and Taylor Partridge all had Top Ten finishes for the girls, and the 400-meter relay team came in sixth. Overall, the Needham girls tied for 14th place among the 24 schools competing.
  • Four Needham wrestlers — Jake Furman, John Marino, Alex Rutley and Daniel Burdin, competed in the Division 1 state tournament. According to Coach Robert Pritchett, all did well but were unable to advance to the finals.
  • The dance team finished second in the Bay State Conference championships and is looking ahead to the state championships March 2 in Framingham.
  • NHS gymnasts will compete in the state championships Saturday at Algonquin Regional High School in Northboro.
