Fire broke out in a house under renovation at 37 Fuller Road early Wednesday morning. No one is currently living in the home and there were no injuries in the two-alarm fire that brought responders from five communities.

Needham Fire Chief Thomas Conroy said they received a call around 6:30 a.m. from a neighbor who saw smoke coming out of the basement. When his crew arrived, “It was heavily involved,” he said. “They subsequently knocked it down. It burned through the first floor, from the basement into the first floor.”

Firefighters on a ladder truck made their way to the roof of the house. “In order to make an attack on the fire, to get in, we’ve got to open the roof to get all the super-heated gases and smoke out so we’re able to make it tenable for us,” said Conroy.

He said they’re currently working with the building inspector and the fire inspector to determine the cause of the fire. “We’ve got a lot of investigating to do right now,” said Conroy. “We’re thankful there were no injuries.”
